The Fairview Smart Home - Phoenix, AZ

Welcome to the Fairview Smart Home. A collaborative effort between Smarter Home Life and a close friend (and real estate investor) of the show. This is a completely reimagined and redesigned "flip" home in the Fairview Historic Neighborhood of Central Phoenix.

I was lucky enough to consult with real estate agent / investor Jacob Barros on the technology and lighting for this smart home. In the videos below, he mentions that he's "never seen a flip home with smart home features", so he indeed might be starting a trend. The big homebuilding companies are jumping onto the smart home bandwagon, so why not make it a thing for "flip" homes, too?

Smart home features that focus on simplicity

The included smart home features are: August Doorbell Cam and Smart Lock, Ecobee 3 smart thermostat, Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and Orbit Smart Wi-Fi Sprinkler Timer. Beyond the traditional "smart" devices, the home features a full line-up of high-end Samsung black stainless steel appliances...including the Family Hub Refrigerator with its three internal cameras and large touchscreen, and Wi-Fi connected washer and dryer. To ease the new homeowner into this smart home, all of the individual devices were selected specifically for their advanced features but yet that they can operate manually (and without a wireless connection), and none of them require a smart hub for remote control or operation.

A home entirely lit by Philips LED Lighting

Special attention was paid to the home's lighting, making it an all-LED home. Philips Lighting joined us on this project to provide all of the LED lighting for the Fairview Smart Home. New and specialized lighting from Philips is used throughout the home...such as Warm Glow dimming LED floodlight lamps for the recessed lighting, Vintage LED "filament-style" lamps for the kitchen pendants, and multi-setting SceneSwitch LED lamps for the baths. All of the lighting operates without the need for Wi-Fi, smart hubs or apps.

Watch this three-part mini-series on this smart home below, and take a tour of this beautiful 1616 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that's currently on the market. (But probably not for long!)

Sponsorship disclosure: As mentioned above, Philips Lighting provided all of the LED lighting devices for the Fairview Smart Home.
